Music, to draw it!

Yesterday I was sketching at very cool event - "Music, to draw it!" It was organized by Tel-Avivian internet radio station Teder, which consistently organizes music evens in various styles. People in all ranges of age - young, old, families with children, were sitting by the tables equipped by markers and paper, and drawing, accompanying by music. Great local beer and pizza were adding to the atmosphere. Without a doubt, music and drawing (and beer) - is the perfect formula :)

Sketchcrawl in Florentine

I love to sketch in Florentine Neighborhood in Tel Aviv. You just need to stop at any place for a while - the stories will come to you!
It was nice to meet there our USk TA group for the sketchcrawl, to sketch together and to view at the end all the different points of view on the same area!

#oneweek100people2017- day five! (+bonus)

It was really no need in the fifth day, as I already had 144 people sketched! But it was Purim period and I couldn't help not to sketch some people in costumes.
The first sketch was done while eating falafel in "Falafel in Square" chain.

The second one - at the evening in my favorite "Thai House", celebrating with my family.

And here is the bonus sketch I did at the day of tomorrow passing at Rothschild boulevard In Tel Aviv.

So, my final score for the 5 days of challenge is 162 people! (not including the last Purim bonus)
It was fun to join to the plague and to feel a part of something big. I didn't do any special efforts to change my routine, but I do looked more for opportunities to sketch, what reminded me my hunger to sketch when I arrive to the new places, not to forget to be a constant tourist!

Sketching-dancing

Our last sketchcrawl was at a dance studio. We was invited to sketch a dancing lesson of a group which belongs to Rio Abierto movement . I love to sketch processes, people in motion - is really exciting mission, so naturally I jumped at the opportunity. But I didn't expected that combination of sketching with dance, and maybe with specific kind of dance - free, connected from inside to outside, would make the experience even stronger, and would take it to another level!
I think that it IS possible to transfer energy, emotion, feeling in a fast and expressive sketch. For me those sketches like a memories in the bottle - when I look at them I can again to taste a bit the flavor of the experience.
It was a huge fun! And I even joined to the dancers ;)
We are going to organize another sketching-dancing meeting, stay tuned!

Common future

Last night I took a part in a protest march common to Jews and Arabs, for equality and against racism. You can call me naive, but  I believe that most of people just want to live in piece one with another and that we much more in common. And that it is the only way to survive in this crowded place. It was something very optimistic in those people marching together in the heart of Tel Aviv.
As usual, people approached me to see what I'm drawing. I got ungrudging comments from both - Jews and Arabs - which is the first proof that I'm right ;)

Rothschild corner of Herzel

We set our last sketchcrawl at Rothschild corner of Herzel - the South part of Rothschild Boulevard, one of living arteries of Tel Aviv. I came there few days before to check the spot. Started from a cup of coffee at fancy DaDa&Da - all these small tables facing boulevard and a lot of French speakers at the background (because of closeness of the French Institute) made me feel that I'm sitting at Champs Elysees.

After that I walked down the Herzel street, looking for something less fancy and more authentic. Finally, I found a bench from which I could capture a view to the street with iconic Shalom Tower on the background and all the colorful mess of people, smells, colors and noises in front of me.
Here are sketches from the different places at Rothschild Boulevard - looking so different depends on point of view.
people waiting for the green light - challenging to capture

elder couple were sitting in front of me and sunken into drinking coffee and chatting without noticing me sketching them

lonely fountain - very calm in contrast with the colorful street
It was beautiful day, beautiful weather and great company as well!

Magic Alps

Last week we went to the family ski vacation, where  I was mostly... skiing ;)
Still, I managed to steal some minutes in different days to sketch the breathtaking view from my room window. Every time I looked at the window I wanted to draw the view. It's just so different from my regular surrounding. It's pure magic!

take 1 - watercolor

take 2 - graphite

take 3 - colored pencils
These are fast sketches during Après-ski ;)

I miss you, Alps!!!!

Weekend in Prague

Here are some sketches I managed to do during the last weekend, I spent with my husband in Prague (his birthday present).
Prague is really beautiful city, sometimes it's too beautiful - charming Old City's streets look as they taken direct from the Disneyland ;) Usually I don't fancy drawing places that are too pretty. But luckily, there are people around and they always give me subjects for my sketches.
