Christmas in Vienna

Last weekend my sister and I spend a long weekend in Vienna - elegant, classical, and so artistic capital of Austria. So we tasted some Schiele, Klimt and Breigel. And some Mozart, Beethoven and Strauss. And apple-strudel for the dessert, of course! ;)
Here are some sketches I managed to "steal".
our first supper

beautiful concert in Mozart's house

having some drinks after the concert

my beautiful sister listening to the live singer in the bar

poor horses! I'm not sure they so happy to dance waltz...

I didn't dare to skate, but it was fun to watch!

charming small concert in our hotel, called "Beethoven"

in the local jazz club "Porgy&Bess"

wonderful show by "Marina and the Kats" Marina and her band were just electrifying!
I wish I could sketch much much more! But still, it was so nice, and I have some taste for coming again!

Sketching with BIC pen

I love my 4 color BIC ballpoint pen - perfect for quick sketches, with one pen only in your hand you can express almost anything!
Following are three sketches that was drawn at the wedding. Each sketch was done after one more glass of wine. You can see how my stokes changed as well ;)

Beit Romano - always great place for drink and draw
couple in the bar

Last two sketches - from the concert of our friend Ronan  - it's always fabulous to draw music!

Meeting Nefertiti at Tel Aviv

Urban sketcher always attracts people. It's easy to start conversation with someone sitting at the middle of the street and drawing his surrounding. It can be just a few words, someone would drop while passing by, or it can start real conversation and sometimes connection.
Last time I met my friend and fellow sketcher Nathan at the "Congress Bazel" bar, our sketching meetings almost always accompanied by some food ;) After finishing plate with hummus and shawarma we had a perfect mood for sketching customers of this very typical Tel-Avian place.

Suddenly, colorful woman with dreadlocks designed into a tall tower on her head approached our table and started to talk to us. After a while, he and her husband passed to seat with us and we continued chatting as an old friends and sketching them, of course! She told us the she's also an artist (sure!), she's painting on a flour kind of oriental carpets (she showed us pictures). She also communicates with spirits and ghosts (of course!), if we need once. They live in kibbutz and are inviting us to come and to be their guests whenever we want. From the first glance Etti (that's her name) reminded me the Egyptian queen Nefertiti, because of her hair style. "Don't I look like Nefertiti?" - she asked me while I was drawing her.

Sketching really opens a gateway the people's hearts.

Revolution on the bar

In a one month we have an elections in Israel, and many politicians trying to get to their potential voters. I sketched at one of the events, called "Revolution on the bar" - meeting with one of the leaders of the block that wants to knock down the ruling party and to bring a new hope to the people here.

Girls night out!

Last Thursday I had a great girls night out with my two friends-sketchers Aurore ans Irirt. We met at the flea market area at the old Jaffa. We strolled at the narrow streets full of small bars and coffee shops, which took out tables and chairs and turned streets to the one big party, crowded by chatting and laughing young people.
Finally, we found for us a perfect place - on a side, a bit up, so we had a perfect view on everything. Beers and sea food were ordered and the waiter barely found place on our table loaded by sketching tools. We started with big collaborative sketch, it was so fun!

After the warming up, we just dived into the surrounding and times flied so fast!
At the some point group of girls that was sitting opposite us finally noticed that we are sketching them. They asked us to see the sketches and was shocked to see theirself drawn! They took photos of our sketches and asked us who we are and why we are doing it. It was very nice interaction!

So, here is the perfect formula we'd discovered at this night: friends+beer+sketching=happiness!
Waiting for the next girls-out-night!

drink & draw

drink&draw - this name was born during one of the USk symposiums, I think. We called "drink&draw" all these perfect evenings after the day full of sketching when we went out to drink, chat, and again... sketch together. Perfect combination!
My husband isn't a sketcher, so he needs to be patient when we go out together and I don't want to miss the opportunity to drink&draw a bit :)

Pre Barcelona sketches

I'm counting down the days, four more left until I'm off to Barcelona USk Symposium! Checking out my art supplies, choosing the right sketchbook to take, thinking again about my workshop, trying to calm down...
Here are some random sketches done lately - at home with my regular models:

and out and around:

Here is my new purchase - Safari Lamy pen! I bump into it by a chance and couldn't resist not to buy it, even if I would probably find it in a better price in Barcelona. So now it refilled with waterproof ink and ready to work!
Can't wait meeting you all in BCN, to learn new approaches, to share my and to have fun, of course!
