Memories from Lisbon

I'm very excited - today I've got my copy of "Urban Sketchers in Lisbon" - the book that put together amazing experience 2nd Urban Sketchers Symposium. What a memories! I'm turning pages of the book and feeling again the energies of the symposium - sketching among more than 200 sketchers from all over the world. Finally meeting in person the people behind the sketches! Exploring together the beautiful city of Lisbon, chatting, eating together, switching tools and sketchbooks and, of course, sketching, sketching and sketching...
the book and my Lisbon sketchbook, opened on one of the sketches which is featured in the book.
The beautiful cover is a sketch of  Largo Camões by Frank Ching and the book is in Portuguese and English. It is available on amazon.
Speaking about memories - here you can see more my sketches and some photos from the Symposium:

"Tents' Protest" - the process of illustration

I wanted to share here my process of illustrating an article for children's magazine "Einayim".
My experience in an illustration area isn't very large, every time I work on illustration I feel like I'm inventing myself again and again.
The article was about so called “social justice revolution”, which happened in Israel during the last summer.
My first references for the illustration was some sketches I drew earlier at the "tent city" at Rothschild:
I also found some photographs
I did the pencil sketch and started to work on final illustration, trying to keep the spirit of spontaneous sketches
I liked it during the process, but at the end... the spontaneous feeling is disappeared. Maybe I should stop earlier ;-)
final illustration in the magazine - click on it for a bigger size!
I would love hear about your process! What are your references, steps, techniques, feelings and etc.

Falafel!

One of the first things my youngest daughter and me did when we came back from the vacation was visiting local falafel shop. After all that delicious french dishes nothing bring you back better than these crispy balls with hummus and pickles. Yummy!

Back from the family vacation

Hanukah is over, and we're back to routine. Here are some sketches I did during our family vacation. We went to LaPlange, village at Alps, for some ski and fresh snow and it was fantastic! Sorry, but the only sketches I've drawn were while being at a taxi - an airport, airplane, and bus. It was too pity to sketch when I had a week only for skiing.
