Layers with colored pencils

Image
Here are the last illustrations I did for the story in "Einaiym" (Eyes) magazine. This time I wanted to do it in colored pencils only, playing a bit with overlay of different layers. It was fun!

Going to sketch the people of Lisbon!

Image
Everything is almost ready for my trip to Lisbon, I'm very excited toward this small journey. I got an invitation from a group of Portuguese fellow sketchers to give there a workshop, which I happily received. I'm excited to come back to the city connected to my many great memories - the place I participated for the first time in USk Symposium, met in person so many virtual friends! And the beautiful city by itself, I fell in love with from the first site. And, of course, my workshop - we're going to sketch on the anniversary day of the Portugal revolution, to capture the "heroes" of the city - its citizens! some giveaways for the workshop  - flyers and postcards As you can guess, the workshop will be about sketching people - subject I love the most. We'll do some fun and loosing up exercises and I hope that we will enjoy the process, that's way beautiful results will come as well! Here are some sketches I did during my Drink&Draw meeting wit...

From home sketchbook

Image
I have a big-sized sketchbook which I use at home, sketching my most available models - my family. Recently I scanned some of them - for me they are better reminders than any family photos album.

Before the Passover

Image
I had a free hour between running errands before the Passover evening, to sketch at the main street of Ra'anana. The street was full of all kinds of people, running, stopping, eating, chatting, yelling on their children... I had a plenty of stories to sketch, feeling a bit like in the movie ;) "what's your lucky number?" - written on the lottery kiosk family eating falafel the line to the kosher for Passover falafel couple eating falafel

Red blooming tree

Image
Spring is here in all its beauty and there are a lot of blooming everywhere.  I love especially this red blooming tree in my neighborhood - its huge beautiful flowers grow before its leaves, which emphasizes even stronger the bright splashes of red on the bare tree branches. Here are three quick sketches of the same tree I did during the month. The last one done a few days ago, when only few red flowers left on my tree :( Luckily, I have my sketches. And I can wait until the next spring ;)

Some last illustrations

Image
This is the illustration I did for the last issue of children magazine "Einayim".  I did in a bit different technique - gouache background and pencil lines, combined together in Photoshop. But I think that my favorite technique in illustration is still watercolor&watercolor pencils - technique I use a lot in on-location sketches as well. Lately I got for the first time to illustrate the gate for the magazine. It was the "leadership" issue and I was asked to illustrate a bunch of leaders from Israel and the world ;)

Eat & Draw - sketchrawl in Aurore's yard

Image
Sketchcrawl at Aurore's beautiful yard at Jaffa, including food and drinks everybody brought along was a big success. It was so pleasant to start the morning with eating and drinking (and chatting, of course) that I barely was needed to sketch ;) Anyway, we should do it from time to time, here are some sketches that I succeed to manage.
