Graphite sketches + Photoshop coloring

Image
I was playing with some of my sketches by adding color and textures in Photoshop. original sketch - my boys playing FIFA changed layout adding color and texture original sketch - corner at Alharizi street in Tel Aviv adding color and texture Plain graphite pencil can be very rich and colorful, for my opinion. But color and texture can emphasis different details and to show drawing in a different way. So, what option do you prefer?

To draw from an imagination

Image
Last week my youngest daughter was sick, so we spent a lot of time at home doing various activities, among others - drawing together. As I used to, I was drawing from observation, when my daughter, of course, was drawing "from the head". At some point she told me: "Mom, stop drawing by looking, draw from your imagination!" It wasn't easy at all! Here are some sketches I did while waiting with my daughter for a doctor. For some reason the coffee shop area was full of old ladies Take care of yourself and keep on drawing!

The Art of Urban Sketching - the book!!!

Image
Last week I saw many posts from my fellows urban sketchers - one by one receiving the book. Finally it arrived here as well! I have to say that after all this expectation I was highly excited to hold this beautiful book in my hands! I didn't have time to read it properly yet, but from a quick leafing I can say that " The Art of Urban Sketching " is a real treasure full of tips and surprises. And, of course, I'm very proud that my sketches are part of it in a very respected company! Here are pages featuring my sketches beside my original sketches: Being urban sketcher allows me to get out to a journey every day without leaving my town. Now, thanks to this book, I'm going to travel over 50 cities all over the world! Special thanks to Gabi Campanario who puts all this stuff together! The book is available on Amazon and it's must book for all sketching-on-location lovers!

Travelling through time and place

Image
Every time I visit Jerusalem I feel I bit aboard. I wouldn't even start to write about this mysterious full of contrasts city. It take me to different places over the globe and to different times during the history. I was too lazy to stop and sketch on a street, but took a lot of photographs .  Here are some sketches I did, mostly while stopped to eat, of course ;-)

5th sketchcrawl in Meir Park

Image
Last Saturday our  Israel group of Urban Sketchers went to Meir Park - small and  elegant  garden in the center of Tel Aviv. Urban parks - very comfortable place for sketching. There is a lot of subjects, and everyone can find what he prefers.  Meir Park has it all: trees, grass, trails, playgrounds, even a  large fish pond decorated with beautiful water flora,  buildings and coffee shops around, and, of course, a lot of people:  families with children,  dog owners and their dogs,  elderly persons and their carers and so on...
